Static
I’ve always been acutely aware of my size, strength and physical vulnerability. This awareness is a result of repeated social conditioning throughout my life that constantly reminded me how helpless I was. In this video project I explore the specific patchwork memories and experiences that took my body away from me, as well as my journey to take it back. These memories range from my childhood to my more recent experience in college. This is a largely autobiographical piece that builds on themes I’ve used in previous works, including feminism, grief and generational trauma.
